After a five-year break, the “Baltic Time Attack” racing series returned to the Baltic circuits this year. The first round was held as part of the “Pärnu Summer Race” racing festival at the “Porsche Ring” track, the second round took place together with the Lithuanian “Ring Challenge” series at the “Nemuno Žiedas” circuit in Lithuania, while the third and final round was held during the “WashCar Riga Summer Race” at Biķernieki. This marked the first time that the “Ring Challenge” visited Latvia, strengthening the friendship between “Time Attack” series in the Baltics.
In recent years, track day and “Time Attack” culture has been developing strongly across all three Baltic countries, attracting increasing attention from both drivers and spectators. Among the current Baltic series, the Lithuanian “Ring Challenge” has the longest traditions, but Latvia’s “MANO Superlaps” and Estonia’s “Best Lap” can also boast strong grids and impressive growth in recent years. Therefore, it was only logical to revive the “Baltic Time Attack” races this season, bringing together the fastest drivers from all three countries.
The first round in Estonia gathered 20 participants, while in the second round in Lithuania, a total of 64 competitors lined up across both “Ring Challenge” and “Baltic Time Attack” classifications. In the third round in Latvia, 38 drivers competed in “Ring Challenge” and 26 in “Baltic Time Attack.” Although the number of competitors in the Baltic classification could certainly be higher, joint efforts will be made to improve this for the next season. In any case, drivers from all three Baltic states took part in all three rounds, proving that the series has real potential to unite the fastest drivers in the region and strengthen cooperation between Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
“For the first time, “Ring Challenge” went outside Lithuania. We were glad to join the Baltic championship and try a new track, which for many of our drivers raised at “Nemuno Žiedas” was a completely new experience,” said “Ring Challenge” organizer Ugnė Rukšėnaitė. It should be noted that for the Lithuanian series this was the third round of the season and the only one outside Lithuania. This year’s final round will again take place on October 18 at the “Nemuno Žiedas” circuit near Kaunas, with Latvian and Estonian drivers warmly invited to join.
Ugnė Rukšėnaitė also expressed delight at the growing popularity of the “Time Attack” discipline in the Baltics: “We see Lithuanians, Latvians, and Estonians all joining in. We’re getting positive feedback, attracting new participants, and looking to expand. I’m happy that the idea of amateur racing is also supported by our long-term partners “Liqui Moly”, ensuring that engines can withstand long kilometers on track. They helped us “export” our event to Latvia, and I’m convinced that this first time will definitely not be the last.” Alongside the “Ring Challenge” organizers, more than fifty “Ring Challenge” competitors traveled to Riga, bringing with them three Renault safety cars.
Although the 2025 motorsport season is not yet over, the “Baltic Time Attack” organizers are already looking ahead to next year, aiming to offer participants an even stronger and more exciting series. Similar to this season, synergies are planned both with the “Baltic Racing Series” circuit racing events and with the “Ring Challenge” championship.
